Urban Infill Utility Design – Denver, CO

Project Type: Institutional / Religious Facility (Utility Plan – Water Service)
Location: Denver, Colorado
Client: Private Nonprofit

The Challenge

This project involved the development of a meditation center in an urban area of Denver. The primary civil scope focused on water utility planning and coordination with Denver Water under tight site constraints. The project required integration with existing infrastructure, adherence to cross-connection control standards, and close coordination with multiple agencies.

Land Pro Civil’s Solutions

  • Water Utility Plan Development: We prepared a complete set of water plans to meet Denver Water standards, including layout for domestic and irrigation services, metering, and backflow prevention. The design supported both building needs and landscape irrigation with clarity on ownership and maintenance boundaries.

  • Urban Site Coordination: Utility placement was carefully planned to avoid conflicts with existing telecom, electric, and storm infrastructure in a constrained right-of-way environment. The design also addressed access for future maintenance.

  • Cross-Connection Compliance: Plans included all necessary notes and specifications to meet Denver Water’s cross-connection control program and material requirements, helping streamline the review and approval process.

  • Agency and Permit Coordination: Our team worked closely with Denver Water, Public Works, and the project architect to ensure all requirements were met and submittals were complete. We incorporated district-specific standards and addressed plan comments promptly.

  • Supportive Utility Documentation: The civil drawings included overall utility coordination, benchmark details, legends, and clear sequencing to support construction and inspections without delays or change orders.

The Outcome

  • Approved Utility Plans: All civil water service plans were reviewed and approved by Denver Water, ready for construction.

  • Integrated Urban Design: Utility routing was optimized to support future operations while minimizing impact to the surrounding infrastructure.

  • Permitting Success: Close coordination and responsive documentation kept the project moving through city review channels efficiently.
